There are many topics I want to write and many issues I wish to discuss with the people of God. But after some talks with friends and prayerful consideration, I have decided to write this book: Searching for God, the Precious Treasure, in My Daily Life.
One of the reasons for me to write this book and choose this particular topic is because I see how important it is for us, the people of God, to see God’s presence in our daily life. Knowing God to be by our side can make a big difference in how we would handle various situations day after day. We can become scared and overwhelmed easily if we do not think someone is always there to guide and protect us. Or we might feel alone and abandoned if we do not see anyone is around to help and comfort us.
As we can see, our world is increasingly in turmoil and filled with rage and violence. Additionally, technology and material things have slowly moved us away from our loving God and isolated us from being a caring neighbor for one another. But worldly things will not bring us peace and comfort, or turn us into a caring neighbor. If our world realizes that God is in its midst, it would definitely learn to behave better and treat others with love and respect, for God would hold it accountable for its actions. In some way, I believe the increasing violence and senseless shootings in our world correspond with the diminishing role of God in our lives. If we do not believe God is among us to hold us accountable and make us do the right things, then we would do anything we like, including things that might harm our neighbors, for some of us like to push the boundary to see how far we can get away with our misdeeds.
Although our world might be cynical and indifferent about God, many of us still appreciate the role of God and religion in our lives and continue to search for God’s presence around us. As an experienced priest, I have seen many of us who have searched for various ways every day to be close to God, whether it is in prayer or in acts of charity. We all want to fill our daily life with God’s presence. We believe that by having God before us and behind us and all around us, we will not go astray or be tempted to do something wrong easily, for God will be there to help us stay on the right path. Furthermore, we might face lots of challenges in our lives, but we will not feel overwhelmed or discouraged if we know God is close to us, for God will give us strength and courage to deal with those challenges. God is truly the precious treasure you will be lucky to find.
Those are some of the reasons for me to write this book to give us, the people of God, a good source of encouragement and guidance on our journey of faith. This book attempts to show us how to find God’s presence through the ebbs and flows of our daily and weekly life. It also helps us to have the right attitude and good vision to recognize God’s presence, even in the toughest situations. That attitude and vision calls us to look at things as a glass half-full and have a complete trust in God. By having that attitude and vision, we can manage to deal with all kinds of situations in our lives, for we know what God would want us to do in a particular situation. We have nothing to fear or worry about, because God is always next to us to guide and support us. I pray that we would carry this book with us at all times and find it a wonderful source of guidance and comfort in our daily life.
